TikTok MP4, HD or MP3: which file do you need?

MP4 video

An MP4 keeps picture and sound together in one file. Choose it to watch a clip offline, send it to a friend or use it in an editing app.

HD MP4

MP3 audio

If you only want the sound, use the MP3 button on the result card or the TikTok to MP3 page. It appears only when the post has a separate sound track.

Where is the TikTok MP4 saved on phone and PC?

Android and iPhone

On Android the video usually goes to the Downloads folder, and you can open it from the Files app or the browser's download list. On iPhone, Safari shows a download icon in the address bar. Tap it, open the file from the Files app, then use Share and Save Video if you want it in Photos.

Windows, Mac and Linux

Your browser saves the MP4 to its default Downloads folder, or asks where to save it if that option is on. Open the browser's downloads list to find it, then play it with any video player.

Why does my TikTok link not turn into an MP4?

You pasted the wrong kind of link

Use the link of one video. Profile, search and sound-page links do not work. Copy the link again from Share, then Copy link.

The post is private, deleted or restricted

Private, deleted, age-restricted or region-locked posts may not work. Check that you can open the post without logging in.

The post is a photo slideshow

A slideshow has pictures, not a video file. Save them one by one or as a ZIP instead.

Try another post

If a second public video gives you an MP4, the problem is with the first post, not with your device or browser.

Can I reuse a TikTok video I saved as MP4?

Only if you own it or have permission from the creator. Posting someone else's video without permission can lead to takedowns or claims, so ask first and credit the author.
